This 8-track album serves as a subtle reminder of the timeline of unspectacular relationships. While the fundamentals of a relationship may appear to be rock-solid, Rosemarie conveys how love can become paper-thin as it progresses to the point where one has to “cut the cord” and embark on the final phase of the relationship.
Having been brought up in a household with Dominican and Puerto Rican roots, Rosemarie gained an early understanding and appreciation for the splendor and influence of music. With a DJ for a father and a late mother who was a singer, she has been involved in singing since the tender age of 7. Despite living in different parts of the United States, such as Florida, California, and New York, Rosemarie's passion for music never wavered.
Rosemarie embarked on a journey of self-discovery in 2016, with long days of part-time work interspersed with her continued exploration of her natural singing talent. She began posting covers and music challenges on social media, and reconnected with her friend and Studio Engineer-Jon Rousseau who encouraged her to return to creating original music. Inspired by the work of artists such as Drake, Rihanna and SZA, as well as artists such as Dominic Fike, Dijon and others, Rosemarie strives to produce R&B with profound lyrics and captivating melodies, drawing inspiration from real life experiences and occurrences.
Throughout her upbringing, Rosemarie developed a strong inclination towards songwriting, fueled by her habit of fervently jotting down her thoughts and feelings in journals. This practice cultivated her natural ability to craft songs. As she shared her live cover performances and enthusiastically participated in singing challenges, Rosemarie caught the attention of Bird Vision Entertainment, the record label that has been home to esteemed rap artist Roddy Ricch.
"To Be Determined" showcases her vocal versatility and dedication to songwriting. She always stays true to herself no matter which destination her journey takes her, and she wants you along for the ride. The 10 track album "114", "Salt Lake City", "Trigger", "Already Yourz", "Demons", "Numb3rs", "Say My Name", "Play With Fire", "3 Months Later", and "Stay True".
Afterwards, the singer-songwriter signed a contract with Interscope Records and released a series of modern R&B hits such as "03 Love" featuring Juvenile, a legendary artist from NOLA, and the captivating and soulful track "Henny Talk". These songs were included in her first EP, "Sinnergy" . Additionally, the talented artist caught the attention of none other than Alicia Keys, the R&B Queen herself, who endorsed her as part of Keys Soulcare. Through her songwriting, Rosemarie shares her personal experiences and emotions, treating soul music as a sacred form of expression.
[Verse 1]......You light up like a candle / I'm a bit of a mess to disentangle / Then our eyes meet, mine playing tricks on me / For a second, I see a halo, you're an angel .......[Refrain]..... Hennessy on your lips got you talkin' real sweet, baby / Talk is cheap, baby, show it to me, baby / You keep on saying you got what I need, baby / Make me believe, take me seriously.....[Pre-Chorus].....Another cup, you fill it up / Drift off to sleep, see you in my dreams / Early to fall, it's too late to rise / Numbin' the pain 'cause nothing will change
[Chorus]......You know I want you bad / Love me I won't look back / Tell me you're through / Anything you ready for / I'm ready for it / You know I want you bad / Love me I won't look back / Tell me you're through / Anything you ready for / I'm ready for it .........[Verse 2] ........./Constant, searching / To try and find inside of you what I deserve / I know I should know better than to think it's working / 'Cause what we share just don't compare to how you hurt me
The remaining tracks include, "Confessional, "Cholo’s Testament", "Catch 22", "Life is But a Dream", "Saints & Sinners", "Crossed", and "Vision" can be found on her first EP, "Sinnergy", released on July 2, 2021. The EP received critical acclaim and was featured on various top R&B lists.
Through her songwriting, Rosemarie shares personal experiences and emotions, treating soul music as a sacred and intimate space. This EP is a reflection of her journey as an artist, paying tribute to her past while embracing her future. Rosemarie's passion and talent in creating music solidify her as a promising and thrilling addition to the ever-changing R&B genre.
Her sophomore project, 'Rock Paper Scissors' (released March 17, 2023), an impressive and dynamic R&B EP that showcases the singer’s soaring vocals and bold songwriting skills. An exceptional piece of work that displays her impressive vocal range and daring songwriting abilities.
From the very beginning of the EP, in "Siren", Rosemarie's confident and commanding voice takes the spotlight, rising above the serene and melancholic guitar. Her delivery exudes attitude and confidence, reminiscent of Keyshia Cole's distinctive vocal style. This opening track sets the tone by expressing a feeling of isolation and becomes an anthem of its own.
"Siren" lyrics:..........[Chorus]........How do you walk on the water / Without your soles goin' under? / I've tried and was in over my head, yeah / I been wadin', still wadin' / My eyes are red, used to burnin' / I hold my breath and resurface, ain't goin' down / It's all in my head, yeah / I'll keep wadin', still wadin'
[Verse ]...........I can see the bottom / Maybe I'm the problem / It's heavy and it's weighin' me down / I don't know if I'ma find my way out / Built it from the ruins / Never had a blueprint / I'm tryin' not to drown in the doubts / I'll put my faith in what's above all the clouds / Floatin', far as I can see / I'm holdin' for my sanity / Stuck frozen, numb to everythin' / Is it really out of reach? / But it's never what it seems
The empowering and self-assured "What I Like" serves as a strong declaration of self-love, as Rosemarie refuses to settle for anything less than she deserves. Her vocals are fiercely unapologetic and embody the strength and assurance conveyed by the song's message.
"Breaking" lyrics: [Chorus]...............Breaking me down / I been out here lost / I can’t find you now / Making it harder / I long for peace / While I’m on the ground / I feel you near / Still you’re far away / Time don’t heal / Cause it hurts the same / Making it harder / I long for peace / While I’m on the… / While I’m on the ground........[Verse 1]..........So I hung up some pictures on my wall / To remind me / On days like this I wish that you would call / I been lonely / I treasure the memories they bring / But I’d trade ‘em to have the real thing / So now there’s just some pictures on my wall / That remind me…......[Pre Chorus]...........Never told you / But I meant to / Now I’m sorry / I won’t get to / I just always thought that we would have more time.................
[Chorus]........Breaking me down / I been out here lost / I can’t find you now / Making it harder / I long for peace / While I’m on the ground / I feel you near / Still you’re far away / Time don’t heal / Cause it hurts the same / Making it harder / I long for peace / While I’m on the… / While I’m on the ground........[Verse 2]...........Now every time I hear your favorite song / It reminds me / You could be here / But tomorrow could be gone / And it haunts me / So I listen and talk of good times / Turn my head so they don’t see me cry / Now every time I hear your favorite song / It reminds me...........[Pre Chorus]............Never told you / But I meant to / Now I’m sorry / I won’t get to / I just always thought that we would have more time......................
Songs like "Breaking", "Fool's Gold", and "Home" highlight Rosemarie's captivating vocals and emotional lyrics. Notably, she introduces a new English-Spanish, reggaetón-inspired track called "Aprovecha".
"Fool's Gold" lyrics begins....[Verse 1]..........My intuition is tellin' me everything I need to know / The sexual attraction is keepin' you 'round here late at night / Center of attention, the friction, the contact, makes me give in / Can't listen to my sixth sense warn me
[Pre-Chorus]........First, we start one on one (Oh), all night long (Oh) / 'Til I lose my cool (Oh), say something wrong (Oh) / It never ends, that's the shit we go through / And in the day or the dark, my body wants what it wants / We both know that it's wrong still I come back .......[Chorus]......Until you make a fool of me every time / Every time / And you makе a fool of my heart and my mind / Every time
[Verse 2]........How you do that likе that, so smooth like that / Gettin' me bent to break my rules like that / Not even what I came to do, but here we are / You ain't no good but I ain't no better / Stay 'cause you match all my effort for now / We're better together
"Aprovecha"....Verse 1 starts (translated into English).....I want to see you but if you are going to come / Don't delay, I feel like it / Tonight you can stay over / Baby, I don't work tomorrow / Do you really think about me? (Hm) / Do you really think about me? (Hm) / I want to see you but before coming / Tell me if you think of me.......[Chorus]......Come where I am if you want to see me / He who seeks finds how to please / Tonight, you have the advantage / Come on, come on, it's late tomorrow / Get to where I am if you want to see me / He who seeks finds how to please / Tonight I give you an advantage / Come on, come on, it's late tomorrow
Verse 2 .......Come where I am if you want to see me / He who seeks finds how to please / Tonight you have the advantage / Come on, come on, it's late tomorrow / Get to where I am if you want to see me / He who seeks finds how to please / Tonight I give you an advantage / Come on, come on, it's late tomorrow
"Fakes Love" explores the irresistible allure of attraction while delving into the conflicting emotions of desire and restraint. The pulsating beat and Rosemarie's breathy vocals create a tense atmosphere that perfectly captures the essence of the track. By emphasizing the pain of losing a lover and the realization that finding true love is difficult amidst a world filled with fake affection, the song touches on a soul-searching journey.
"Fake Love" verse 1 starts......Pictured a future with you by my side / No one is perfect, you were in my eyes / Saw what I wanted in you, I was blind / Should've seen all the signs, yeah / It could all be so simple / Diamond rings with the wrist presidential / Need someone who gon' fix up my mental / Gotta have morе than just the potential, yeah / Lеarn from the mistakes / Givin’ half what I get for my heart's sake / 'Til I know it's the right one to replace / But for now....... [Chorus] ......I don't want no fake love / I just need a real one / Someone that's down to ride for me / And I don't wanna waste time / But everything takes time / Why do I fall so easily? / Yeah, yeah........
Verse 2 continues.....Talk to me real, baby (Talk to me real) / I don't want that sweet shit (Nah) / Come and say it to my face, girl / ’Cause I don’t like it when you tweet shit, nah / Miscommunications / Giving me the implication / Lovers turned acquaintance / Can't do no more relations...........[Chorus] ..........’Cause I never wanted fake love (Never wanted fake love) / I just need a real one (I don't want fake love) / Someone that's down to ride for me, yeah (I don't want fake love) / And I don’t wanna waste time (No fake love) / But everything takes time (No fake love) / Why do I fall so easily? (No fake love)
In "Best Two Out of Three," Rosemarie demonstrates her vocal range and emotional depth by singing candidly about heartbreak and the challenge of moving on and starting anew. The song's relatability lies in its portrayal of the struggles in a relationship and the attempt to resolve differences. Her voice is both vulnerable and haunting, captivating listeners with every note.
[Verse 1].........Oh, look at the mess we made / Said we'd never, then did it / I shoulda just listened / Don't mean the things we say / Fuck it up, then we're sorry / Right back where we started ........[Pre-Chorus]......Don't wanna lose you, not this way / I wish that love could be enough / Isn't this worth tryin' to save? / One more chance, wish me luck..... [Chorus].....Best two out of three, yeah-yeah / I'm playin' for keeps, don't let up on me / I can't just watch you leave / So give it all you got, put in that work for me / Best two out of three, yeah / (Two out of three, two out of three, two out of three) / I'm playin' for keeps, yeah-yeah / (Just one on one, you versus me, playin' for keeps)
[Verse 2] ......So many things that I know you needed from me / Don't open up, but for you, I started slowly / I tried to show you, said, "Seein' is believin'" / And I say nothing that's worth havin' comes too easy, yeah / Too real, too much to give you still / Too close, too good, no one compares / Too down for you to start with someone new, woah.......[Pre-Chorus].....Don't wanna lose you, not this way / I wish that love could be enough / Isn't this worth tryin' to save? / One more chance, wish me luck
