An investigation conducted by #BBCEye has brought to light a deeply disturbing revelation involving three prominent K-pop stars. The investigation has uncovered their involvement in sharing explicit and incriminating evidence of sexual offenses within hidden chat rooms. Furthermore, this investigation has highlighted the urgent need for society to address the broader issue of sexual offenses and exploitation.
In South Korea, K-pop idols are adored by millions of female fans and enjoy fame and fortune. However, behind the glitz and glamour, a dark and hidden world exists. This world involves secret chat groups where videos of women being drugged, assaulted, and humiliated are shared. It is a shocking reality that some K-pop stars lead a double life.
This eye-opening documentary by #BBCEye sheds light on the courageous female journalists who took on the daunting task of investigating these secret chat groups involving prominent K-pop stars. Their dedication came at a high personal cost, as they faced numerous challenges and threats.
The term "Molka" refers to the act of secretly capturing explicit photos or videos without the consent of the individuals involved. Shockingly, this crime has increased eleven fold in South Korea over the past fifteen years. In this case, three successful K-pop stars were found to be sharing images of unconscious women being sexually assaulted. The evidence even revealed that two of the stars, Jung Joon-young and Choi Jong-hoon, had subjected a woman to extreme sexual violence.
The discovery of these heinous crimes would not have been possible if not for the leaked phone data of Jung Joon-young. Korean journalist Kang Kyung-yoon obtained this information and embarked on a painstaking process of verifying hundreds of explicit photos and videos. The investigation also uncovered the involvement of a prominent Gangnam club called Burning Sun, where another friend of the K-pop stars, Seungri from Big Bang, served as a DJ and CEO. Shockingly, women were being drugged and sexually assaulted within the confines of this club.
Kang and her fellow journalist, Park, bravely share their story of how they delved into this dark world and became targets themselves for exposing the stars involved. Their unwavering determination to seek justice and shed light on these disturbing crimes is truly commendable.
