Description: This piece is a limited edition of 12, signed and numbered. After having spent 3 months in South Africa, observing wildlife, I returned to the UK to create this sculpture of a herd of Kudu.
A short bio about artist: Fred Gordon, born in 1993, is currently studying French and Art History at Edinburgh University after completing a foundation diploma in Art and Design at Falmouth University. He has always been interested in art, and despite being mostly self-taught, Fred has been sculpting since 2011.
Fred was exposed to and inspired by the natural world from a young age, having grown up in the countryside. Initially, he primarily used drawing to capture the essence of his subjects. However, in 2011, influenced by his mother, he shifted his focus to sculpture, where he could better articulate the complexities of anatomy and the movement inherent in the wildlife he observed.
Fred captures the subject's motion and vitality with quick and fluid gestures. The piece is created in clay or wax first, and then cast in bronze or bronze resin.
