Maryland hospitals are monitoring their supplies of sterile intravenous fluids after Hurricane Helene caused damage to a major manufacturer in North Carolina. While scheduled surgeries remain unaffected for now, health officials are urging facilities to conserve their supplies and consider alternatives, such as oral hydration for dehydration cases. The FDA has placed several IV products on its “drugs in shortage” list, allowing for temporary imports to help mitigate the impact.
