Lewis Capaldi - Pointless

Lewis Capaldi is a Scottish vocalist and lyricist from the town West Lothian town in Whitburn. Lewis Capaldi was an unsigned artist in 2017, but he amassed over 25 million Spotify plays after releasing his hit songs "Bruises," "Mercy," "Fade," and "Lost to You" on his debut album Bloom. His incredible guitar skills, emotion-soaked songwriting talent, and ability to make people laugh have won him many fans.

Time Magazine says "Lewis Capaldi has the kind of deep, textured voice that you could listen to for hours. He finds expressive rough edges, then smoothes them out into the sweetest of notes. “Mercy,” his newest single off of debut EP Bloom, lets him stretch both sides. It’s the most upbeat song in the strong collection, but that’s not saying much: Capaldi’s talent is tugging at heartstrings — or rather, pulling at them with all his vocal might. Over a soaring, sweet melody, the Scottish singer-songwriter — who started playing guitar at nine, was singing in pubs at 12, and is now a ripe old 20 — gives the heartbroken a salve in the form of song."

He rose to popularity, 8 November, 2018, with the massive hit single "Someone You Loved". Millions of  albums were sold worldwide - launching Capaldi from a bedroom performer to an international pop star. The successful debut album that catapulted him to the top of the pop charts gave him the reigns as the prince of heartbreak and despair.

In addition, "Someone You Loved" was nominated for a GRAMMY for Song of the Year, won Song of the Year at the Brit Awards, and peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and US Top 40 charts.

Other hits from his album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent include "Grace," "Hold Me While You Wait," and several others.

Rolling Stone, "Before COVID-19, Capaldi was preparing to embark on pop music’s equivalent to climbing Mount Everest with a swarm of murder hornets at your back: making a second album. If there are any nerves, Capaldi doesn’t betray them, but he does have a keen sense of the tension between expectation and the realities of a constantly churning music industry."

"Pointless" is the second newest single from his second album, "Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent". It was launched December 2nd, 2022. The song is about realizing that life would be meaningless without the person you love by your side.

In an interview with GQ magazine he shares, "The first time I played in front of a live audience, I realized I wanted to be a musician. I was about four years old and had always liked music [...] I was on holiday at some caravan place in France. There was a band playing, but people could come up and ask if they could sing a tune. At the time I was obsessed with this wee Queen CD I got out of a newspaper that had "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions" on it, so I just went up and asked if I could sing "We Will Rock You". Twenty minutes after, I went up and asked to do the second tune. That was the first time I figured out that I liked being in front of people singing. It was basically when I thought that I’d like to show off professionally."
