The Maryland State Police are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic collision involving two vehicles that took place early this morning in Dorchester County. The individuals who lost their lives in this unfortunate incident have been identified as Johnnie Wright Jr., aged 47, and Michelle Wright, also aged 47, both residents of Rhodesdale, Maryland.
Johnnie Wright Jr. was the driver of a Chevrolet, while Michelle Wright was a passenger in the vehicle. Regrettably, both individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency medical services personnel from Dorchester County. Fortunately, the driver of the tractor-trailer involved in the crash did not sustain any injuries.
The Maryland State Police Easton Barrack received a report of a two-vehicle collision at approximately 1 a.m. The incident occurred at the intersection of Eldorado Road and Dog Kennel Road in Rhodesdale, Maryland. According to the initial findings of the investigation, the tractor-trailer was traveling north on Eldorado Road when, for reasons yet to be determined, the Chevrolet crossed the center line and collided head-on with the tractor-trailer.
In order to conduct a thorough investigation into the crash, Eldorado Road had to be closed for over four hours. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration provided assistance with road closures, while deputies from the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office also offered their support at the scene.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team has taken charge of the investigation and is currently leading the efforts to determine the cause of the collision. As of now, the exact circumstances that led to this tragic incident are still under investigation.
