The new single "JEANS" by singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez, who has been nominated for a Grammy and has won Juno awards five times, is now available on FMLY / Island Records / Universal Music Canada. The song features R&B legend Miguel, who has also charted viral hits. This intimate ballad marks the first collaboration between Reyez and Miguel, showcasing their undeniable musical chemistry. "JEANS" reveals a more mature and seductive side of Reyez, as she vulnerably and confidently lays bare her emotions. With acoustic guitar and gentle drums, Miguel's soothing vocals and innate sensuality effortlessly enhance the song, creating a beautiful and eloquent result.
Reyez's latest single comes with a provocative music video, directed by Erik Rojas / BT Studios, which reflects her previous storytelling style of being in control and taking charge. The video is set in a dusty western town where Reyez is seen robbing a store and subsequently getting caught by the authorities. Interestingly, her actions lead her to cross paths with Miguel, who is locked up in a nearby jail cell, and that's when their chemistry ignites.
"JEANS" marks Reyez's first new release in 2023, following the success of her sophomore album, YESSIE, at the end of 2022. Her previous works, including the groundbreaking Before Love Came To Kill Us in 2020, were highly acclaimed by critics from reputable publications such as The NY Times, The New Yorker, Pitchfork, and Rolling Stone. Her talent has also been recognized by Billboard, Variety, Forbes, and many more, and she has made appearances on popular late-night talk shows like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and the Daily Show With Trevor Noah. With over 3 billion streams on various digital platforms, Reyez's fanbase continues to grow exponentially.
[Chorus: Jessie Reyez & Miguel]
You fit better than a pair of jeans, baby (Yeah)
Fill me up better than a feast, baby (Yeah)
Don't think I could ever let you leave, baby, yeah
You fit like your mama made you just for me, baby (Yeah)
Stroke makin' me forget to breathe, baby
That face lookin' like a seat, baby, yeah, yeah
[Verse 1: Jessie Reyez & Miguel, Jessie Reyez & Miguel]
Only been about a month but my body been on
This is baby daddy, baby
'Cause I might let you do it, I might let you shoot it
'Cause she need some milk (Yeah)
She need somethin' real, real bad (Real what?)
Real bad (Real bad, yeah)
My ego get built up
'Cause I can get you bricked up
Like I'm buildin' a crib up with no effort
We can play house, no pressure
Call me mama, I'll call you papa (Yeah)
We can pop off, we can pause if you need it
I get conceited when you say that she the best
[Pre-Chorus: Jessie Reyez & Miguel]
Say it again (She the best)
Say it again (She the best)
Say it again (She the best)
Take me to bed (Yeah)
[Chorus: Jessie Reyez & Miguel]
'Cause you fit better than a pair of jeans, baby (Yeah, ooh-ooh)
Fill me up better than a feast, baby
Don't think I could ever let you leave, baby (Yeah, yeah, oh)
You fit like your mama made you just for me, baby (Mama made you just for me, baby)
That stroke makin' me forget to breathe, baby (Breathe)
And that face lookin' like a seat, baby
[Verse 2: Miguel, Jessie Reyez]
The atoms between us have melted away, and we're one tonight
When I see the white of your eyes, I know I, I'm doin' it right (Yeah)
I love how you coach me when I'm close to the peak, yeah
And I feel you growin', my love, how you hold back for me
Yeah, I get conceited when you say that I'm the best
[Pre-Chorus: Miguel, Jessie Reyez, Both]
Say it again (You the best)
Say it again (You the best)
Say it again (You the best)
Take me to bed (Yeah, yeah)
[Chorus: Jessie Reyez & Miguel, Jessie Reyez]
You fit better than a pair of jeans, baby (Baby, better than a pair of jeans, baby)
Fill me up better than a feast, baby (Better than a feast, baby)
Don't think I could ever let you leave, baby (Don't think I could ever let you leave, baby)
Yeah, yeah, yeah (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
And you fit like your mama made you just for me, baby (You fit, yeah, yeah, just for me, baby)
That stroke makin' me forget to breathe, baby (Ooh, ooh)
That face lookin' like my favorite seat, baby
