Baltimore, MD – Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced today the sentencing of Brittney Georgette Payne, a 33-year-old from Baltimore, who has been convicted for stealing a debit card from a resident at Keswick Multi-Care Center, a local nursing home.
On June 12, 2024, Payne pleaded guilty to a theft scheme involving amounts between $1,500 and $25,000 before Circuit Court Judge Lynn Stewart Mays. On September 12, 2024, Judge Mays sentenced Payne to five years in prison, with all but ninety days suspended. In addition to jail time, Payne will serve five years of supervised probation, be barred from caring for the elderly and vulnerable adults and must complete 100 hours of community service.

Attorney General Brown expressed gratitude to Assistant Attorney General Kelly A. Casper and Investigator Brittany Leister for their diligent efforts in the case.
The Maryland Office of the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud and Vulnerable Victims Unit is primarily funded by a $6.05 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for fiscal year 2024, with an additional $2.02 million provided by the State of Maryland.
